Board, billboard, advertising panel (billboard – a notice board) — a 6x3 or 4x3 panel for outdoor advertising, installed along highways and streets and sometimes on building walls and in other crowded places. The panel is a frame covered with galvanized steel sheets with a weather-resistant coating, mounted on a support. Panels of this format are always located in places with heavy traffic and pedestrian flows, which gives them high effectiveness and a high OTS (opportunity to see).
A billboard usually has two sides:
Double-sided billboard ("Cheburashka") —an advertising structure made of two 6x3 billboards mounted on one steel support. It can carry four advertisements at the same time.
Prismatron (prism, prismavision) —a 3x6 billboard whose display area is made of a set of equilateral triangular prisms; turning all the prisms by 120° changes the whole image, and a full 360° cycle shows three different advertisements.
Roller, scroll, scroller (roll —rotation, scrolling)—an advertising structure measuring 2.32x3.14 with internal lighting and rotating images.
A roller is a light box with a fully glazed advertising surface. It is equipped with powerful internal lighting, two motor-driven rollers and an electronic control system.
The main feature of a roller is that the sheet with images is rewound from one roller to the other, and each frame is shown for a strictly set time. Up to 7 advertising images are shown within a few minutes.
Each image is normally shown for 10–12 seconds. The electronic control system positions each image precisely.
Backlight (backlight — light from behind) — a structure with a static image measuring 2.32x3.14, 4x3 and 8x4, with powerful internal lighting. Backlight posters are printed on special translucent film, so the image is evenly lit and looks great in the evening and at night.
Citylight (city light, light poster) — a vertical advertising structure with internal lighting measuring — 1.2x1.8. Citylights are placed near supermarkets, shopping centers, station squares and other crowded places. Their target audience is generally considered to be pedestrians, but citylights also reach drivers, especially on narrow streets in city centers. Lamps inside the citylights illuminate the advertising at night. Sides «A» and «B» face the pedestrian and traffic flows.
